Short-courses and Consultancy Programme in Monitoring and Evaluation

M&E Short Courses respond to identified skill gaps in strategic thinking, planning, results management, M&E and reporting among junior and middle level managers who work in development/humanitarian projects, public and private organisations, small businesses, business management, consultancy, HR, construction among other fields.Private Sector organisations including big multinational business are increasingly getting involved in public sector activities including as grantees, philanthropists and corporate social responsibility (CSR), as well as public contractors in project delivery demanding strategic thinking accustomed development project. Bilateral and multilateral donors and international NGOs also place high demand on accountability for results. Increasing concerns among shareholders of mining, gas and oil companies has resulted into sustainability monitoring and reporting including of health, safety and environment (HSE).The public sector, in both development and emergency humanitarian including the flagship BRN initiative in Tanzania are increasingly adopting time-bound results management business models.

The Open University of Tanzania (OUT) is collaborating with a Nairobi-based Regional Centre of Excellence in M&E training known as Capacity Africa (www.capacityafrica.com) to deliver these specialized Certificate Programmes in M&E through resident and distance learning, the latter targeting foreign students, field staff in humanitarian and peace-keeping operations.

  3. Certificate in M&E Consultancy Skills for Projects and Programmes 28 September – 02 October, 2015 11 September, 2015
  4. Certificate in M&E for Decentralised Local Government 02-06 November, 2015 16 October, 2015
  5. Certificate in Evaluation of Public Health Interventions 16-20 November, 2015 06 November, 2015

Award Given

Certificates in M&E of the Open University of Tanzania. Participants who complete 6 short courses, have requisite entry-point qualificationscan earn a Post-graduate Diploma in M&E. Further to that, they can add a few additional MA M&E courses and a dissertation to earn OUT’s MA in M&E.

Fee Structure

Tsh.750,000 per certificate course (or USD 500 for non-resident participants). This is inclusive of venue, breakfast, lunch, refreshment, handouts and learning materials and certificate. The cost excludes accommodation for participants and dinner. Courses will be offered in Dar-es-Salaam with possible outlets in Arusha, Mwanza, Dodoma, Mbeya and Zanzibar depending on concentration of applicants. Group training can be arranged at a venue agreed with the requesting organization. Long-distance participants can take this course from anywhere in the world.
